The Timesheet App
Portfolio Project
I designed an app that allows hourly workers to clock in and out, manage their schedule, communicate with their teams, and view paystubs— all from their mobile device.
Project type: UX Design Course Challenge
Role: UX Designer
Year: 2023-2024
Tools: Figma, Adobe Illustrator
Problem
In the constantly changing world of retail and food service, hourly workers continue to face significant challenges with inefficient timeclock and scheduling systems. These systems often result in confusion, miscommunication, and errors that affect both employee morale and operational efficiency.
Empathy Map
Solution
Develop an easy-to-use mobile app for employees to manage their schedules, clock in and out, request time off, and communicate with the company, enhancing productivity and efficiency for staff and management alike.

Design Elements
As I shifted focus to the app's visual design, I wanted users to feel excited to interact with it. I chose bright colors and rounded edges to create a fun yet clean and professional look.

The Takeaway
Looking back, I did a great job with creating a thorough user experience for the worker, but my original plan was to also make it easier on managers. I want to explore how the app will function for a management user. This may mean creating a separate “sister” app, or simply integrating management tools into the current design. I hope to continue developing this in the future!
